The Bay. A village at the head of Keweenaw Bay in Baraga County. In the 1940’s, the Ford Motor Company Upper Peninsula Enterprises located here. Henry Ford has a summer home near here in Pequaming. L’Anse is now home to Celotex Corporation. Population: 2,500. L'Anse is the county seat of Baraga County and is located at the southern end, or bottom of L'Anse Bay, part of the larger Keweenaw Bay in Lake Superior. Its economic base includes mining, lumbering and lumber-related manufacturing and tourism. Visit the Powerhouse falls. Near Mt. Arvon, the highest point in Michigan.
