Covington is located at the intersection of M-28 and US-141 in Baraga County. Covington is an unincorporated community on US 141 near the junction with M-28. Township offices are located there as well as the Covington Township Historical Museum. Covington was first settled by French Canadians in 1885. When a post office was established in 1895, the first postmaster, John Lyons, named it after his hometown of Covington, Kentucky. It now has a significant Finnish population.
